About Louisville, KY

Louisville is a Great City to See!

Whether you’ve been a Louisville local for generations or you are just passing through for your eye exam, we have plenty of suggestions for sites not-to-be-missed!

Downtown Louisville, KY

Our downtown area displays a lovely blend of old and new. Picnic along the waterfront and watch the barges glide by. To stroll around, Fourth Street Live is a lively place to start; pop into the many boutique shops and trendy restaurants. Be sure to check out the Seelbach Hilton Hotel, one of Louisville’s most opulent, historic accommodations. For entertainment, catch a show at the Louisville Palace Theater.

To experience authentic Louisville, bourbon must be a part of your time downtown. Tour Peerless Distilling or enjoy the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. If your taste runs more towards beer, Louisville will not disappoint you. Our brewery scene includes winning attractions, such as Against the Grain Brewery & Smokehouse and the Mile Wide Beer Co.

Museum Row

Also located downtown, Museum Row is concentrated around West Main Street. Wander through these streets to choose from a fantastic array of educational venues, such as the Kentucky Science Center and the Louisville Slugger Factory Museum. Old Louisville offers another type of “living museum” to visit, with many splendid examples of impressive, historic homes dotting the streets.

New Views of Nature

One of the best places to gaze at the wonders of nature is at the Louisville Zoo. Take our word for it – this site will delight kids of all ages, including those young at heart. With more than just four-legged creatures, you can sip a beer while riding the train tour, spin on a carousel, and tour an old cemetery (really!).

Have you ever wanted to take an underground tour of a city? Here is your chance: head to the Louisville Mega Cavern and whizz along a zip line through the man-made underground passageways.

Looking for more Louisville attractions? Visit Gaddie Eye Centers for an eye exam or to buy a stylish pair of glasses, and we’ll be happy to recommend more of our favorites!
