About LaGrange, KY

Time to See LaGrange, KY, Clearly!

Now that you had an eye exam in our clinic, and your vision prescription is up-to-date and your sight is sharp, we’d like to show you a closer view of the area:

La Grange, located about 25 miles northeast of Louisville, is nestled in the rolling hills of Kentucky. Our historic downtown area is home to many artisan boutiques, restaurants, and art galleries, such as the nonprofit Gallery 104. All action revolves around the Courthouse Square, where you can see lovely Renaissance Revival-style architecture that dates back to about 1875. Pay close attention to the exquisite exterior detailing of the Sauer building, the only remaining Victorian storefront in LaGrange. At present, about 30 trains run through the tracks of Main Street, and another noteworthy attraction is the 1910 train depot on the eastern edge of downtown. To see all the downtown and uptown sites, we recommend booking a Ghost Tour, which begins at the Courthouse.

Join the Festivities

Festivals are a big part of life in LaGrange. One popular event, held every fall, is the LaGrange Railroad and Antique Festival, with a fabulous vintage market and show. The Elvis Lives! Celebration is another fun party held in January, with music, lectures, and a range of festivities.

Dive & Dine

Falling Rock Park is a spectacular LaGrange venue, where you can go scuba diving in the 50-foot lake of a local quarry. You’ll come up close to an eclectic collection of sunken items, such as a skeleton on a toilet and a school bus. Jump into the crystal-clear waters from surrounding rock walls.

After working up your appetite, we advise you to refuel at one of LaGrange’s restaurants. Right near Gaddie Eye Centers is One Nineteen West Main, which features American fare to satisfy a classic taste. For a bit more spice, head to El Acapulco Mexican Cuisine or Gustavo’s Mexican Grill. When our LaGrange eye doctor and optometry team are in the mood for old-fashioned, slow cooked barbecue, we take a seat at Big R’s & Shannon’s BBQ, just down the block from our eye care center.
